Alice in Wonderland

We were so proud of the 2nd grader's performance of Alice in Wonderland yesterday.  They had so many lines and stage directions to learn!  After the performance, the students shared they were proud, relieved, and sad it was over.  Thank you for all your help practicing lines and creating costumes.

Denver Health

We had a fabulous afternoon at Denver Health yesterday donating our time to the Newborns in Need program.  The students decorated onesies, made fleece blankets, and created 'Welcome to the World' bags for newborn baby girls and boys.  The students got the chance to peek into the nursery and see babies that were less than a day old.  We couldn't believe we had ever been that small!  Another highlight was to explore the tunnels that run under the hospital campus on the way to the Newborns in Need workroom.
Thank you so much for your kind and generous donations to the program.  We were so impressed to hear about all the enterprising ways our 2nd graders had earned money to buy the baby items.  Thank you also for supporting and encouraging our students with this project.

Biography Tea

We hope you enjoyed meeting lots of famous people at the Biography Tea this morning.  The students have worked so hard on this project and have learned so much.  We hope you learned something too! The classroom Keynote presentations were wonderful.  It was evident that the students had practiced hard for homework.  Thank you for all you support!

Earth Day - Delayed

Our Earth Day project had been rain delayed until yesterday.  We learned about English artist Andy Goldsworthy who uses natural materials to create sculptures out in nature.  Inspired by his work, we created our own sculptures around campus.  After we took photos, we made sure to put everything back where we found it.

Color Coding

As part of a joint math and art project, every student at Graland has created a color code stick.  Using a code where a different color corresponds to each letter of the alphabet, in art the students painted circles to represent the letters in their name.
In class this week, we estimated how many vowels and consonants we had in our first names as well as the most and least common letters.  We used the data on our color code sticks to figure out how close we were.
On May 15th and 16th, the entire school will create an outdoor display of color code sticks on Priesser Field.
